On-prem CMS bleeding budget. No cloud presence.

Key Metric

50%
Cost Reduction

The Result

Achieved a 50% cost reduction. Delivered a cloud-native infrastructure capable of supporting premier feature film production.

The Challenge

At DreamWorks Animation, legacy infrastructure and purely manual provisioning were massively blocking digital artists and creating highly unsustainable overhead for the internal CMS systems managing production data.

The Solution

I introduced AWS to the studio by migrating the massive Magento-based CMS entirely to EC2 and S3. Concurrently, I heavily bootstrapped automated provisioning pipelines for the Weblogic J2EE lighting tools utilized directly on films like Puss In Boots and Madagascar 3.

Core Technologies Used:

AWS EC2S3Weblogic J2EEOracleMagento

Business Outcome

I slashed operational costs for the CMS by 50% and dramatically accelerated the underlying workflow for digital artists, proving the undeniable viability of cloud infrastructure for major, real-time studio operations.
